Q Hello, I am an avid sea swimmer but recently I have been suffering from hear loss and clogged ears after swimming. I do swim with screwable ear plugs but I kind of dived about 2 feet in the water with ear plugs and on that very same day I began to feel the pressure in my ears. Do you think what I have is simply water stuck in my ears or did the water pressure from the small dive with earplugs affect my hearing? I haven“t felt pain but the clogged feeling has lasted for 2 days. Thank you.

Submitted by Sebastian

A Diving with earplugs can cause damage but usually when diving more than 2 feet. My suggestion would be to visit the doctor and see if this has affected your hearing. Im sorry that i cannot answer more of your questions, but as we are not physicians our answers would not be correct. Hope this has helped!

Q Please help!! I have a 4 year old grandson that has eczema. He loves to be in our pool!! However, he has a flare up of his eczema after he has been in the water. The rash makes him miserable! We have tried "coating" his body with vaseline prior to swimming, reduced the treatment levels in the pool, bathing him as soon as we are out of the water. Nothing has helped. Is there a suit that would protect him from the water ~ keeping the water AWAY from his skin?? I hope that you can help ~ we are desperate!!!

Submitted by Diannia

A Hi! I am glad to hear he is enjoying the water so much and that you have gone to great lengths to make it comfortable for him--that's great! Unfortunately, there really is not a suit that would keep the water completely away from his skin. While I realize the main concern is not thermal protection; my best suggestion for this situation is to have him wear a wetsuit with as much coverage as possible. The way a wetsuit functions is to trap a layer of water next to your skin. Your body heat warms that layer of water, and that is what keeps you warm. My thoughts is to have him wear a wetsuit, and get it soaked and saturated with fresh water before he enters the pool. In theory, then the layer of water in direct contact with his skin would be fresh water, and this would hopefully reduce the amount of rash. Continue to wash him immediately when he gets out of the pool, and try using the Malibu C Shampoo found in the Accesories department--it doubles as a body wash, and is designed to take chlorine out of hair and skin. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Q I would like to find out what size person an XL insulated swim vest would fit. I am in desperate need of something to keep me from freezing in a cold pool. Is there a size chart on your website? Thanks

Submitted by Carol

A Hi! The sizing information we have from the manufacturer states that the XL vest is for an average-sized man. An average-size woman would take a size L.

Q I am heading to Costa Rica in a few months for warm water surfing/snorkeling. I need full protection from the sun including head cover. Water shoes would be useful.

Submitted by clint laird

A Hi! Since you will be in warm waters and are looking for full coverage, my first suggestion would be the Aqua Sphere WT60 Swim Skin in the Thermal Protection Department. It will provide full coverage on your arms and legs, and is constructed of .5 ml of neoprene in the core. This way, you will get the UV protection, but won't be too warm for the tropical waters of Costa Rica. If you feel that would be "too much" thermal protection for you, try pairing the Finis Adult Sun Shirt (in the UV Protection department) with the WT60 Sleeveless Swim Skin or the WT80 Shorty--both suits can be found in the Thermal Protection Deparment. For head cover, check out the Aqua Sphere Hood and for water shoes, try the Deep See Beachwalker shoes. Both of those items are also found in the Thermal Protection department. Hope this helps! Be Safe and Have Fun!

Q Hi,Julie. There are many different shapes or styles of float on the market, to name a few: jogger belt or flotation belt. Now, I want to buy a belt that could keep me floating on water while learing swimming and also keep my back staying upright while doing water aerobic. Is there any ONE float for 2 purpose? Thanks!

Submitted by Inga

A Hi! The Aqua Jogger Classic belt will most likely be your best bet to cover 2 purposes. It is bouyant enough to keep you floating if you choose to use it while learning to swim. Also, since the design of the belt comes higher up on the back, it will provide more support to help keep yourself upright during water aerobics. Hope this helps and Have Fun!

Q I am a woman, 5'8", have fibromyalgia, weigh about 170 lbs. What size insulated swim vest should I buy for water exercise? Thanks!

Submitted by mary

A Hi! The Water Gear Wetsuit Vest with the zipper down the front will be the easiest to get on and off. As with any style of thermal protection, it is important to have a nice, snug fit so it functions properly. Of course, you don't want it to be uncomfortably tight either. According to the measurements you mentioned, my suggestion would be to try a size Medium in the Water Gear Wetsuit Vest. Of course, when you try it on, if it is not the appropriate size we can always do an exchange no problem! Hope this helps!

Q I am in need of a wetsuit for my 5 year old that is 4 ft. tall and 57 lbs. What size would fit her the best so that it isn't too tight but won't let the water in either? Thanks, Shannon

Submitted by Shannon

A Hi Shannon! If you are looking for a wetsuit with short sleeves and short legs, I recommend the Aqua Sphere Stingray; size XL. You can find it in the Kids section of the Thermal Protection department. This suit is especially nice because it is made with neoprene in the torso for warmth, and has the lycra material in the shoulders, arms and legs. This provides maximum flexibility and comfort for any water activity. Hope this helps!

Q How well do swim tethers work? What full suit do your recommend for 60-70 F water temp swimming. Thank you!

Submitted by Andra Yanchenko

A Hi! Swim tethers are an excellent tool for those who have limited pool space. It is a great way to get the same workout as you would lap swimming in a full length pool, but in a much smaller area. Check out the TYR Stationary Swim Belt in the Lap Swimming department. Before you purchase, make sure you have a stable place to secure the belt in or nearby the pool. For swimming in water between 60 and 70 degrees, I suggest the Aqua Sphere WT60 Swim Skin found in the Thermal Protection department. There are actually two styles of that suit; both have legs to the ankles, but one style has full sleeves, and the other is sleeveless. If the water temperature is usually closer to 70 degrees, you may be more comfortable in the sleeveless version. Hope this helps! Have Fun!

Q What would be a good size wetsuit for a ten year old?

Submitted by Casey

A Hi Casey! It's hard to say for sure because wetsuits will fit each individual differently. In general, a medium size kids wetsuit is for 52"-56", 55-70 pounds. A kids size large is 55"-60", 70-85 pounds, and kids XL is 58"-63", 85-100 pounds. Of course, if when you receive your wetsuit it is not the appropriate size, we can easily do an exchange. Hope this helps!
